One of the first ways in which a stethoscope exam is going to take place is to listen to the heart. The heart is often listened to directly on the chest, and the diaphragm is what is typically used in order to send the sounds of the heart of the listener. Not only is this a way for the examiner to be able to get a heart rate from you, but it is also a way for them to detect any kind of heart murmur or other problems that may be occurring.
